Born In Houston in 1939, Joe Sample started the piano early and show enormous gift for improvisation. It is in High School That Joe met Wilton Felder and Stix Hooper and formed a band called then "The Swingsters" That will become the Jazz Crusaders and evolved to the Crusaders in the 70's. The Crusaders success has allowed Sample to lead 2 other careers: a solo one, with albums at the end of the 70's such as "Rainbow Seeker" or "Carmel" and a studio session artist working with an eclectic palett

Al and Joe Sample had a beautiful relationship. Much like George Duke, Joe Sample could play it all, from the funkiest grooves on keyboards to the most lyrical piano.
