After being born in raised in Texas, two female figure skaters have qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Respectively skating in the singles and pairs competitions, both of these skaters are making their Olympic debut this year as they set out on the ice.
Malinin’s incredible performance in the Free Skate on Sunday helped give the United States its second straight Olympic gold in the Team Event, narrowly squeaking by the strong Japanese squad. Kagiyama actually posted a better score than Malinin in the Short Program late last week.
The 21-year-old American topped the leaderboard in the men's singles short program on Tuesday. Malinin goes into Friday's free skate with a five-point advantage over his closest rival, Japan's Yuma Kagiyama.
